Thursday’s forecast – Windy start improving later

Good evening Western Isles on this Wednesday evening we are seeing rain, sleet and snow showers moving across the islands. These are heavy and some are producing rumbles of thunder. Clear skies and cloud. Winds gusting 40 to 55 mph and today’s high of 7.3C

Overnight – Clear skies and cloud with further squally wintry showers. Further accumulations of snow are possible even to lower ground. Some of the showers will be thundery at times. In between clear skies. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph. Some gusts could reach 70 mph for a time.

Morning and afternoon – Sunshine and cloud with further squally showers. These will be heavy and wintry at times. Further snow accumulations at times. Some thundery showers. Winds of 20 to 40 mph gusting 50 to 60 mph. Strongest first thing in the morning. The showers becoming scattered later.

Evening – Clear skies and cloud. A few scattered wintry showers. A risk of frost and ice. Winds ease a little. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Winds will be from the West and South West shifting North later. Temps of -1C to 7C

Friday – Cold frosty dry start with rain and gales moving in later. Temps of -1C to 6C Winds from the South and South West gusting to 60 mph later.

Saturday – Rain and showers becoming milder. Winds gusting 40 to 50 mph from the South West. Temps of 5C to 8C

Sunday and Monday – Sunshine and showers. These will be heavy at times. Winds gusting 20 to. 40 mph. Winds will be from variable directions. Temps of 3C to 9C
