Thursday morning brief

Good morning Western Isles this is your morning briefing,

On this Thursday morning, we are seeing rain, sleet and snow showers moving across the islands. These are heavy in places and winds are gusting 60 to 70 mph. Overnight low of 1.9C

A reminder a Met Office yellow weather warning for wind remains in force until 12:00 this Thursday afternoon the full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met Office website or app.

Today – Rain and squally wintry showers this morning heavy and possibly thundery. Some sunny spells. Winds gusting 50 to 60 mph strongest for Uist and Barra. Showers and wind ease into the afternoon with increasing sunny spells plenty of cloud. Evening a few well scattered showers. Winds under 20 mph. Risk of frost and ice. Winds will be from the North and North West shifting South West to end the day. Temps of -1C to 7C

Friday – A cold frosty start becoming milder later with rain moving in. Once again winds gusting 60 mph.

Saturday – Rain and showers with winds gusting 40 to 50 mph.

Sunday – Winds slowly easing but further spells of rain heavy at times.
