Good morning Western Isles this is your morning briefing,

On this Wednesday morning we are seeing rain moving across the islands this is heavy and persistent in places. Winds gusting 50 to 70 mph strongest for Uist and Barra. Overnight low of 5.9C

A reminder the Met Office has a yellow weather warning for wind in force until 11:00 this morning for the Western Isles. The full warning and latest updates can be found via the Met Office website or app.

Today – Winds first thing gusting 60 to 70 mph with heavy rain. Winds will ease mid morning gusting 20 to 40 mph. Easing further this evening under 20 mph by late evening. Heavy rain will clear away with scattered showers some decent spells of sunshine and clear skies after sunset with a risk of frost and ice for parts of Lewis and Harris. Winds will be from the West and South West. Temps of 2C to 9C

Thursday – Rain and showers with winds increasing later gusting 20 to 40 mph

Friday – Rain and showers with winds gusting 40 to 50 mph.

Saturday – Plenty of sunshine with brisk winds.
