Good afternoon all and welcome to the latest Western Isles Weather Watch. The Weather Watch takes a look at the weather across the Western Isles and Tiree, as well as covering any weather events of note across the UK and the rest of the world.
Outlook
It’s been a beautiful start to the month across the Western Isles with over 70 hours of sunshine for Stornoway. There were only 106 hours of sunshine during the month of May. Tiree has also seen a sunny start to June with 50 hours of sunshine. Both locations being the sunniest place in the UK with over 16 hours of sunshine.
So how is the new week shaping across the Western Isle and Tiree. Monday and Tuesday will be largely fine and dry but more in the way of cloud. Won’t be quite as warm as this weekend. These are likely to be the two best days of this week unfortunately as we start to see incursions from the Atlantic will bring more unsettled and wet weather. Starting on Wednesday with various areas of low pressure moving close past our islands. Now there will be heaps of uncertainty about this and if any of you have followed me long enough things become more challenging during the tropical season.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday the first named tropical system of the Atlantic season was named Tropical storm Alex this will have no direct impacts for us in the UK it could influence our weather later in the week. There is also a greater level of uncertainty in global model forecasts when there is a tropical system in play.
So at this stage I am not expecting anything too disruptive but do expect to return to more unsettled conditions.
Next we take a look at weather across the UK and around the world.
Scotland – Had its warmest day of the year so on Saturday with 23.2C at Drumnadrochit
France – Normandy
Signifcant rainfall has occurred in parts of France during Saturday this brought some thunderstorms to the Southern Half of the UK on Saturday evening

Florida – Before becoming Tropical Storm Alex the system brought significant flooding to Florida
