The Weather Briefing 23rd June 2022

Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather briefing from Western Isles Weather. Today we are going to take a look at the weather for the rest of this week, the weekend and and next week for our islands. Lenticular clouds in Scotland and thunderstorm risk in England and Wales.

Weather Outlook

In this section, we are going to discuss the upcoming weather for the islands in the coming days and at a long range. Friday low pressure sits close to Ireland. This will feed rain and showers across the islands. Heavy at times and possibly thundery in nature. In between plenty of sunshine and feeling warm. Winds mainly light but strengthening for Tiree gusting 40 mph here to end the day. Saturday and Sunday the low pressure system will slowly move Northwards feeding more rain and showers across the islands. We will see some longer spells of rain at times. In between some sunny spells. We could see further thundery showers. In between some decent spells of sunshine. It will be fairly windy with winds gusting 20 to 40 mph with some gusts reaching 50 mph the further South you are. Monday one area of low pressure departs with showers and further spells of rain. Becoming drier and brighter for a time before the next area of low pressure moves towards the islands on Tuesday again with further strong winds and heavy rain. The rest of next week and once again further spells of unsettled weather with more rain and showers. Beyond that is really into the long range again things are expected to stay unsettled with no clear indications of more settled weather.

Last 24 hours

We had no weather extremes in the past 24 hours of note. Stornoway managed to climb out of the bottom 10 of coolest places but South Uist and Tiree stayed in the bottom 10 with Tiree having a chilly 13.9C
