This is the part of the in-depth forecast blog where I take some time to look back at the day’s weather. But today like many days in deep summer for our islands there isn’t a lot to talk about. High pressure rose with plenty of cloud and patchy rain with some sunshine at times.

Overnight a mixture of clear skies and cloud with some patchy light rain and drizzle. Some early morning sunshine. Winds under 20 mph.
Morning and afternoon – Again sunshine and cloud with some decent and prolonged sunshine. Scattered showers with some patchy rain and drizzle. Winds under 20 mph.
Evening – Plenty of cloud with some patchy rain. Some sunny spells. Winds under 20 mph.
Winds will be from the West and North West. Temps of 9C to 16C

Outlook
Friday – looks set to be a mainly fine and dry with sunshine and cloud. Light winds and feeling warm. Winds under 10 mph from variable directions. Temps of 9C to 17C
Saturday – A broad area of low pressure will bring increasing winds and rain on Saturday across the Western Isles.

It will start dry, but heavy rain will move across the islands later in the day. Winds will also increase with the strongest for Uist and Barra. Winds gusting 40 mph from the South East. Temps of 14C to 18C
