Wednesday 10th August Weather forecast for the Western Isles.

Good evening Western Isles on this Tuesday evening we are seeing plenty of cloud with some sunshine. Winds gusting 40 mph and today’s high of 16.8C and 18.1C was recorded in Ness from a personal weather station.

It’s been a fairly windy day across our islands today. This chart below from Roost Weather highlights the winds through out the day at Stornoway Airport.

Wednesday

Wednesday will start off dry but spells of rain will move in later in the day. We will see an approaching weather front pushing into the Western Isles. It will be another mild day with brisk winds. Below is the surface pressure chart from the Met Office for Wednesday.

Overnight – Will see plenty of cloud with some clear skies. Spotty spells of rain and drizzle but for most staying dry. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Morning – Sunshine and cloud with some decent spells of sunshine. For most largely dry but some light rain and drizzle. Winds of 20 to 40 mph.

Afternoon and evening – Rain will move in from the West but for parts of Uist and Barra will stay dry with plenty of cloud. For the rest of the islands rain will move in and we will see some occasional heavier spells of rain. Some low cloud and drizzle at times. Winds of 20 to 40 mph. But slowing easing under 20 mph to end the night.

Winds will be from the South West and temps of 12C to 19C

Outlook

Thursday – We are going to see an overcast day with spells of rain heavy at times. Winds of 10 to 25 mph from variable directions. Temps of 12C to 16C

Friday – Overcast with spells of rain and drizzle. Winds under 20 mph. Temps of 12C to 15C

Saturday and Sunday – Sunshine and cloud. A few scattered showers with winds under 20 mph. Temps of 12C to 18C
