Friday 12th August Weather forecast for the Western Isles.

Good evening Western Isles. That was another dull and damp day with mist and low cloud a plenty. We are currently seeing plenty of cloud with some rain and drizzle. Heavy in places with mist and low cloud. A few sunny spells. Winds under 20 mph.

One thing I did note from today was the rise in visibility at Stornoway Airport from 1,800 meters to 27,000m from the 15:00 reading to the 16:00 reading. With the wind direction shifting to come in from the North.

Once again we are in a rut. A warm front sits close by to the Western Isles. Again we will see plenty of cloud mist and drizzle. Met Office surface pressure chart below.

Overnight – A cloud dominating night with spells of rain and drizzle with some mist and low cloud. Winds under 20 mph.

Morning and afternoon – Again staying cloudy with spells of rain and drizzle. Mainly light. Some mist and low cloud with fog patches at times. Some sunny spells. Winds under 10 mph

Evening – Yes more cloud with light rain and drizzle at times. Winds under 10 mph. Some breaks in the cloud.

Winds will be from the North and North East. Temps of 12C to 18C

South Uist – 05:48 and 21:20


Saturday and Sunday – Sunshine and cloud light winds. Some rain and drizzle. Winds under 20 mph. temps of 12C to 19C

Monday and Tuesday – Sunshine and cloud with brisk winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 12C to 15C

Longer range – Still a signal of more unsettled weather for next week but the weather pattern becomes more mobile then stuck under endless grey clouds.
