Outlook

Thunderstorm warnings

So the Met Office issued several thunderstorm warnings for Sunday and Monday earlier today. These cover a large part of the UK but don’t cover the Western Isles. At this stage, the very worst will be over the mainland. But just because we aren’t in a thunderstorm doesn’t mean that our risk is zero. It can mean one of two things that the impacts of any storms for us are too low for a warning or the thunderstorms are likely to miss us. The greatest risk at the moment for us seeing thundery showers would be Sunday into Monday. But again stressing the point that there is a lot of uncertainty at this stage and I will keep you updated. This is one of the main things about doing these more in depth forecasts is to have the ability away from the shorter form forecasts to go into more detail to talk about the weather and warnings.

I will watch with interest how the forecast evolves in the coming days and how the Met Office amended its warnings and I will keep you updated. Below is the warning for thunderstorms that covers Scotland.

Anyway back to the outlook

Sunday – Overcast risk of showers with some sunny spells. A chance they could be thundery. Winds under 20 mph. Temps of 12C to 17C

Monday – Overcast with some sunny spells. Scattered showers heavy at times with winds increasing to 30 mph by the end of the day. Temps of 11C to 15C

Tuesday and Wednesday – Things will feel cooler as we enter to a cooler airmass. Sunshine and cloud. Mostly dry. Winds of 10 to 25 mph. Temps of 8C to 13C

Have a great evening
