Monday 15th August Weather forecast for the Western Isles.

Good evening Western Isles on this Sunday evening we are seeing sunshine and cloud with some mist and low cloud. Winds under 20 mph and today’s high of 16.6C

Thunderstorms and heavy rain have impacted large parts of Scotland today. The Western Isles missed out on the storms as they went East of us. It has caused flooding in Inverness. Here is a map below showing the track of the storms from Netweather


We are once again outside the Met Office weather warnings for Thunderstorms on Monday which will be over Southern of the UK. Weather fronts still sit close to the Western Isles as highlighted by this Met Office pressure chart.

Overnight – An overcast night with some clear skies. Mist and fog patches again. Some light rain and drizzle. Winds under 20 mph.

Morning and afternoon – Staying mostly cloudy with some light rain and drizzle with a few scattered showers which could be thyndery at times.. The cloud breaking at times with occasional sunshine. Lingering and slow to clear mist and fog. Winds under 20 mph.

Evening – Overcast mainly dry with some sunshine. A few scattered showers. Some mist and low cloud. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Winds will be from he North and Temps of 11C to 16C

We are going to see a cooler airmass moving across the Western Isles. You can this from the comparison image below showing today Sunday and Tuesday. This is from the WX charts website. Please note this isn’t low level temperature but at 1.5km above sea level.

So on Tuesday, we will see overcast conditions with spells of rain and showers. It will feel cooler and winds of 10 to 30 mph. Temps of 10C to 14C

Wednesday and Thursday – Sunshine and cloud with scattered occasionally heavy showers. Some decent spells of sunshine. Winds of 10 to 30 mph with some gusts reaching 40 mph. Temps of 9C to 15C

Friday and Saturday – Low pressure will drive our weather. We will see spells of rain and showers with brisk winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 10C to 15C

Sunday – Low pressure clears away. Plenty of cloud with some rain and drizzle. Winds under 20 mph.
