Tuesday 23rd August Weather forecast for the Western Isles.

Good evening Western Isles on this Monday evening we are seeing plenty of cloud with some rain and drizzle. Some breaks in the cloud. Some low cloud mainly across Uist and Barra. Winds under 20 mph and today’s high of 16.3C

A contrast over the weekend with rainfall totals between South Uist and Stornoway with just 0.6mm being recorded in Stornoway and 14.6 mm at South Uist. As shown below in the roost weather image.

Tuesday

Low pressure and associated weather fronts will dominate our weather across the Western Isles on Tuesday. The low pressure is not very deep but it is very broad. This is highlighted by the Met OfficeSurface pressure chart below.

Overnight – Spells of rain and showers heavy at times. Plenty of cloud with some mist and fog. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Morning – Further rain and showers heavy at times but gradually becoming more scattered. Plenty of cloud with some sunny spells. Some lingering mist and fog. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Afternoon and evening – A few scattered showers but becoming drier. Increasing amounts of sunshine during the late afternoon and evening. Some decent and prolonged sunshine at times. Winds under 20 mph.

Winds will be from the South and South East and shifting South West later. Temps of 10C to 18C

Outlook

The rest of this week is going to remain unsettled with areas of low pressures moving in off the Atlantic.

Wednesday – Sunshine and showers with brisk winds. Possibly reaching gale forecast at times. Winds of 20 to 45 mph. Temps of 11C to 17C

Thursday – Further spells of rain and showers. Sunshine and cloud. Winds of 10 to 30 mph. Temps of 11C to 16C

Friday – Looks like being the best day of the week with sunshine and cloud. Decent and prolonged a times. Winds under 20 mph. Temps of 8C to 15C

Saturday

Plenty of uncertainty yet but an area of low pressure could bring spells of rain and blustery winds. But will depend on the placement of the area of low pressure and how unsettled it will be.

A day of rain and showers is likely with some sunny spells. Winds of 20 to 30 mph. Temps of 10C to 17C
