Wednesday 24th August Weather forecast for the Western Isles.

Good evening Western isles on this Tuesday evening we are seeing clear skies and cloud. Winds under 20 mph and today’s high of 17.7C


We are going to see a real mixed bag on Wednesday with low pressure sitting out in the Atlantic. A trough moving across the islands will bring heavy rain for a time. We will also have some strong winds mid afternoon but also plenty of sunshine. Below is the surface pressure chart from the Met Office below

Overnight – Plenty of cloud with some rain this will be heavy at times particularly across Lewis. Winds under 20 mph.

Morning – Sunshine and cloud with some scattered showers. Some decent and prolonged sunshine. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Afernoon –

During the afternoon and evening we are going to see spell of strong winds across the islands. Gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph as highlighted by the UK Met Office chart below from the Weatheroutlook

We are going to see a mixutre of sunshine and cloud. Some decent and prolonged sunshine with showers particaully into the evening and will be heavy at times. Winds will also increase winds of 20 to 40 mph with some gusts reaching 50 mph.

Winds overnight will be from the South East shifting South and South West into the morning. Temps of 9C to 17C

Thursday and Friday – Sunshine and cloud with scattered showers. Winds of 10 to 30 mph. Temps of 11C to 18c

Saturday – Plenty of cloud across the Western Isles with spells of rain moving across the Western Isles. Some sunshine at times. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Sunday – Spells of rain heavy at times. Plenty of cloud. Some sunshine at times. Winds of 10 to 30 mph. Temps of 11C to 16C

Outlook – Looking ahead to next week and there is still plenty of uncertainty with the GFS going for more settled conditions and the EC still going for areas of low pressure movin past the islands. Still hoping for some more settled autumn weather.
