Thursdays forecast – Sunshine and showers with brisk winds 

Good evening Western Isles on this Wednesday evening we are seeing sunshine and cloud with scattered showers. Winds gusting 40 mph. Today’s high of 16.8C 

South Uist picked up another 7 mm of rainfall today taking it up to 69 mm of rainfall for the month. This graphic below from Roost Weather shows South Uist rang is roughly about average for this stage of the month for rainfall so far. With 13 mm of the total falling on the 20th of August.

Thursday

For us on Thursday the low pressure system that has given us an unsettled last couple of days clears away Northwards as shown on the Met Office chart below with high pressure slowly building in behind which will give us a more settled day on Friday

Overnight – A mixture of clear skies and cloud with a few scattered showers. Winds of 10 to 30 mph. 

Morning and afternoon – Sunshine and cloud with some scattered showers heavy at times. Some showers merging into some longer spells of rain into the late afternoon. Winds of 10 to 30 mph. 

Evening – Sunshine and cloud with scattered showers again some longer spells of rain. Clear skies and cloud after sunset. Winds of 10 to 25 mph. 

Winds will be from the South and South West. Temps of 10C to 16C

Stornoway – 06:09 and 20:45

South Uist – 06:15 and 20:47 

Outlook 

Friday – Sunshine and cloud. Some decent and prolonged sunshine. Light winds. Cool start becoming warmer later. Winds under 20 mph and temps of 7C to 16C

Saturday and Sunday – Sunshine and cloud with light winds. More cloud on Sunday. Winds under 20 mph. Temps of 10C to 17C

Some uncertainty exists as to the exact placement of a developing low on Saturday which could bring us some rain for a time

Monday – Overcast with rain and showers. Light winds. Temps of 12C to 16C
