Thursdays forecast – Sunshine and cloud

Good evening Western Isles on this Wednesday evening we are seeing clear skies and cloud with some rain and drizzle but for most it’s dry. Winds under 20 mph and today’s high of 12.7C

For Thursday we are going to see a slack pressure pattern which will result in a mostly settled day before fronts move in to end the day.

Overnight – Clear skies and cloud with a few scattered showers. Winds under 20 mph.

Morning and afternoon – Sunshine and cloud. Some decent spells of sunshine. A few isolated showers but for most, it will be dry. Winds under 20 mph

Evening – Clear skies and cloud which will build in from the West. Some rain moving in by late evening to the West. Winds of 10 to 30 mph.

Winds will be from the North shifting South West. Temps of 9C to 14C

Outlook

Friday – We will see heavy and persistent rain sweep across the islands overnight Thursday into Friday with stronger winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Peaking between 7 am and 11 am with winds gusting 60 to 70 mph in some spots. No weather warning has been issued at this stage by the Met Office but regardless of a warning being issued these kind of wind speeds should be taken seriously. Along with a lot of surface water on the roads. Yes, we get strong winds of this speed every winter but this is the first of the season and will be at a busy time of the day for people. In to the afternoon and it will be rain and showers with winds easing gusting 40 mph. Winds will be from the South shifting South West by the afternoon and temps of 9C to 14C

Saturday and Sunday – Sunshine and showers with brisk winds gusting 20 to 40 mph. Temps of 9C to 13C

Monday and Tuesday – Heavy rain will move across the islands and once again winds will increase gusting 40 to 50 mph. Temps of 10C to 16C
