Met Office yellow weather warning for strong winds for the Western Isles and Tiree 5th October 2022

Good afternoon Western Isles the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds that covers the entire Western Isles and Tiree for Wednesday. There is a lot of uncertainty at this stage and I expect things will change.

The warning mentions winds of 70 to 80 mpg but also states that it could be as low as 55 to 65 mph.

The Met Office has also issued a press release on the severe weather

Normally with this kind of storms, we tend to have a rough idea of the likely wind speeds at 48 hours out. But this looks like a last minute developing storm and a fast moving system so there is a lot of uncertainty as to where it will track and how deep the low pressure might be.

There is also a Met Office yellow weather warning for Rain this doesn’t cover the Western Isles or Tiree but we are still going to see plenty of rain and this is highlighted on the graphic below from Giuseppe

Thank you for reading I will update you further this evening and another update tomorrow lunchtime with any adjustments to the warnings.
