Western Isles Weather forecast Sunday 16th of October

Good evening Western Isles and welcome to your forecast for Sunday. It’s been a mixed day across the islands. A wet start gave away to sunshine and cloud for most with some decent spells of sunshine. Stornoway picked up 9.4 mm of rainfall and 3.5 hours of sunshine.

We are going to see a day of sunshine and cloud with a few scattered occasionally heavy showers. Some heavier first thing on Sunday morning. Cloud will build in during the evening on Sunday. Heavier rain will move into Barra late on Sunday evening. Winds will be from variable directions around 10 to 30 mph with some gusts reaching 40 mph early on Sunday. Temps of 6C to 10C


A broad area of low pressure will bring heavy rain to start on Monday this will last into the morning. Blustery winds gusting 40 mph. The showers will become more scattered as the day goes on and winds will ease a little into the afternoon and evening still with plenty of cloud. Winds will be from the North East and North West. Temps of 7C to 12C

Tuesday and Wednesday

Finallly!!!!!!!!! High pressure builds back in across Scotland. Giving at least a couple of days of fine, dry and settled weather with a mixture of sunshine and cloud. Winds will slowly shift to the East and North East still gusting to 30 mph. But should be mainly dry. Temps of 5C to 11C

Long range

Looking further ahead towards the end of next week and we are likely to see high pressure continuing to dominate across the islands. But more in the way of cloud. Winds staying mainly light. Tempratures mainly in the single figures.
