Where to look
Beaches, machair, lochs and cliffs from the Butt to Mingulay. Give seals with pups a wide berth, keep dogs on a lead in breeding season, and do not fly a drone at a seabird cliff.
North Uist
The machair jewel: corncrake, lapwing, redshank, dunlin, ringed plover and snipe. Otters on the lochs.
May to August for corncrake and breeding waders. Wildfowl in winter.
RSPB reserve. Keep to the marked paths and close gates.
